Gogumatwigim 고구마튀김 – batter fried sweet potato

Sweet potatoes are vegetables that offer their own nutritional value and health benefits. They may be one of nature’s unsurpassed sources of beta-carotene. Adding a bit of fat to them, for example by deep frying in oil, significantly increases the uptake of beta-carotene. Gogumatwigim 고구마튀김 – crispy sweet potatoes – are a great nutritious snack, especially for children.

160g of sweet potatoes,
50g of wheat flour,
600ml of cooking oil,
1 egg yolk,
50ml of water,
50ml of beer.

Thinly slice sweet potatoes. Make the batter from egg yolk, flour, water and beer.

Coat each slice of potato with the batter and deep fry in oil until they turn golden brown.

Serve hot.
